What is a false narrative?

A false narrative refers to a false or misleading story or account that is presented as true. It is often created intentionally to serve a particular agenda or gain support for a particular viewpoint or opinion. False narratives can be spread through various channels, including traditional and social media, and can have significant consequences, up to and including negatively affecting public perception, reputation or safety of individuals, organizations, or events. It's important to fact check information and scrutinize sources before accepting or sharing them to prevent false narratives from spreading.
